Sokoto to Begin Payment of N70,000 Minimum Wage in January

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has approved the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for civil servants.

According to a government statement, workers in the state will begin receiving the new minimum wage with their January salaries.

The announcement, signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, confirmed that state and local government employees will benefit from the new policy.

The state government described the payment as fulfilling a promise by Governor Aliyu to the workforce in Sokoto earlier.

Governor Aliyu called on civil servants to respond to this gesture with increased dedication and responsibility.

“With the payment of this new minimum wage, we expect renewed commitment, punctuality, and hard work from our civil servants,” the governor said.

He also pledged to sustain the regular payment of salaries between the 19th and 22nd of each month, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to being worker-friendly.
