Tinubu’s Appointment of Ganduje Shows Kano’s Importance

Abdullahi Ganduje

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to appoint Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reflects his appreciation for Kano’s role in his administration’s success.

Ganduje’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Chief Oliver Okpala, stated this while responding to criticism from Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC). Rimingado had opposed Ganduje’s appointment as chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Okpala criticized the attacks, stating that Nigerian politics should move beyond hostility and recklessness. He emphasized that political maturity, peace, and cooperation should replace division and bitterness.

“This appointment shows the president’s confidence in Ganduje to drive national progress and uphold good governance,” Okpala said.

He added that Ganduje’s past contributions to Kano’s development speak for themselves. Critics like Rimingado, he noted, cannot erase Ganduje’s achievements as governor.

“I have no doubt that Dr. Ganduje’s commitment to service will reflect in his new role. Expect significant improvements in our nation’s airports as he collaborates with stakeholders,” Okpala stated.

He also stressed that if past leaders had followed Tinubu’s approach of recognizing selfless service, Nigeria would have seen faster progress.
