In Bauchi State, one Fatima Mohammed has allegedly killed her 20-year-old co-wife, Hajara Isa.

The 28-year-old suspect was said to have committed the crime in the deceased matrimonial home on February 28, 2025.

The matter was reported to the Bauchi State Police Command by Sale Isa of Anguwan Sarakuna, Bauchi, on March 3, 2025.

Though details remain sketchy on what must have led to the incident, the police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Family members were said to have pointed accusing fingers at Hajara’s co-wife, Fatima Mohammed (28), might be responsible.

After the matter came to light, Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Muhammad, immediately dispatched detectives from C Division Police Headquarters to investigate.

Their investigation led Fatima Mohammed’s arrest, a statement by the Spokesman of the Command, CSP Ahmed Wakili, on Tuesday revealed.

According to the statement, the suspect allegedly confessed to strangling Hajara Isa before attempting to cover up the crime during interrogation.

She reportedly poured boiling water on the victim and set her body on fire using a melted Bagco sack in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Meanwhile, the police have transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

A team of detectives has been assigned to carry out a detailed investigation, which may include digging up the body and using forensic tests to find the truth.

CP Auwal Musa Muhammad assured the public that justice will be served, adding that the police will deploy all necessary resources to ensure a comprehensive and professional investigation
