Police deploy taskforce to enforce motorcycle ban in restricted areas in Adamawa

Kaduna State Police Command

The Adamawa state police command has assigned a special task force to implement the restriction on motorcycles in specific areas within three metropolitan local government councils.

According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the ban on motorcycles in Viniklang, Federal Housing Estate, Ngurore, Mbaba, Wauru Jabbe, and Yolde Pate remains effective.

Nguroje explained that a team consisting of security personnel from different agencies has been established to ensure strict adherence to the existing restrictions.

Nguroje further mentioned that Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, instructed divisional officers and operational commanders to immediately begin enforcing the motorcycle ban.

He stated that officers in Viniklang, Housing Estates, Shagari, Ngurore, Yola South, Kofare, Yolde Pate, Karewa, Jimeta, Doubeli, Dougirei, and Girei must enforce compliance.

He stressed that designated officers have been assigned the duty of arresting offenders and ensuring that they face prosecution as required by law.

Nguroje, justifying the reason for the decision of the police to act, stated, “The Adamawa State Police Command has observed violations of government order regarding the operation of motorcycles in those areas. People have been seen filtering within these areas with motorcycles disguising as chargeable bicycles.”

“The Command wishes to advise members of the public to desist from using such types of motorcycles and respectfully comply with such orders to ensure public safety. The Command, while respecting the rights of citizens, equally urges them to avoid all forms of activities capable of threatening security measures in the state.”

Determined to prevent criminals from using motorcycles for illegal activities, Nguroje affirmed that security forces will prosecute any individual caught violating the law.
