Obi’s support base rising in North, say Obidients

The Obidient Movement has said support for the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is growing rapidly in northern Nigeria.

The group stated this following the conferment of a traditional title on Obi by the palace of the district head of Pantami, Gombe State.

Obi was honoured with the title of Sarkin Maskan Pantami, which translates to “Chief of Shelter and Peace of Pantami.”

The appointment was contained in a letter signed by the district head of Pantami, Alhaji Yakubu Abdullahi, and made public in Abuja on Tuesday.

Global coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr Tanko Yunusa, released the letter on behalf of the group.

The monarch praised Obi’s “unwavering dedication to humanitarian service and grassroots development” as the reason for the title.

“This appointment is being made in recognition of your dedication and determination towards the development of our community,” the letter read in part.

The Obidient Movement described the gesture as “a cultural endorsement of service and leadership.”

It noted that Obi’s rising popularity in the region is tied to his consistent humanitarian interventions across northern states.
