Ondo assembly clears Aiyedatiwa’s 15 commissioner picks

The Ondo State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of 15 commissioner nominees sent by the state governor.

The confirmation took place during plenary at the Assembly Complex in Akure, presided over by the speaker of the house, Olamide Oladiji.

The deputy speaker, Gbegudu Ololade, while presenting the report of the House Committee on Screening, recommended the nominees for confirmation.

Ololade said the appointees were “physically, mentally, and emotionally stable” to carry out their duties as members of the state executive council.

The majority leader, Olatunji Oshati, moved the motion for the confirmation of the nominees, and it was seconded by the lawmaker representing Owo 1 constituency, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi.

Earlier, the clerk of the house, Benjamin Jaiyeola, read a letter from one of the nominees, Ayodele Olawoye, who could not attend due to an official assignment abroad with the governor.

The house accepted Olawoye’s apology and resolved to fix a later date for his screening after his return to the country.

The confirmed nominees are Sunday Olajide, Amidu Takuro, Olaolu Akindolire, Igbekele Ajibefun, Oluwaseun Osemaye, Adewale Akinlosotu, and Tob Loko.

Others include Idowu Ajanaku, Alabi Johnson, Omoyofumi Henry, Bola Ademuwagun, Leye Akinola, Banji Ajaka, and Adesoji Afolabi.

Speaking on behalf of the confirmed nominees, Olajide Sunday expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve.

“We promise to key into all developmental agendas of the governor and work to put smiles on the faces of the people,” he said.
