NDLEA arrests Delta suspect with N200m cannabis in Lagos

The Lagos state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a Delta-born man, Emam Ajetbogho, for allegedly importing 414.2kg of cannabis sativa.

The suspect, who hails from Warri, was apprehended on June 25, 2025.

He was reportedly found with the substance sealed in sachets of white and black nylon, hidden in multiple bags.

The agency said Ajetbogho had evaded several previous arrest attempts before he was eventually caught.

According to Vanguard that some politicians had attempted to secure the suspect’s release but were resisted by the NDLEA command.

In response to the political pressure, a civil society group, Concerned Citizens for Justice and Accountability, has vowed to monitor the case.

The president of the group, Casey Wealth, said they would not allow the case to be swept under the carpet.

According to him, “We call on all well-meaning Nigerians, Delta citizens and security agencies to pick keen interest in this matter and demand an immediate, transparent investigation. The people deserve to know the truth. The culture of impunity must end.”

He said the group would hold any person accountable, no matter their position, if they attempted to undermine the agency’s work.

“How long shall we keep quiet while our youths are destroyed and our communities turned into theatres of chaos by drug lords hiding behind political masks?” he said.

“Let this serve as a rallying call. Nigeria is not for sale and Delta State is not a playground for narcotic-sponsored anarchy,” Wealth added in a statement issued on Wednesday.
