Soldiers repel Zamfara bandits, rescue village from invasion

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA have repelled a bandit attack on Mai-Kwanugga village in Jangebe district, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The attempted attack occurred at about 8:15am on Saturday, July 5, when a group of armed bandits tried to invade the village.

Soldiers and other security personnel swiftly responded and pursued the attackers into the forest.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a post on X on Sunday.

Two farmers working on their farms on the outskirts of the village were caught in the crossfire.

Makama wrote, “One of them, Muhammadu Bello, was shot and died from his injuries. The second farmer, Abubakar Sani, also sustained gunshot wounds and is currently being treated at a nearby hospital.

“The body of the deceased was taken to the General Hospital in Jangebe for further examination.”

Makama added that clearance operations were still ongoing in the area to locate and eliminate the fleeing bandits.
