- Dantata’s death marked the end of a long life devoted to charity, business growth, and national development.
- Tinubu praised Dantata’s enduring support, recalling the prayers he received from him before the 2023 presidential election.
President Bola Tinubu has described the late businessman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, as a man of immense personality, integrity, and honesty.
Tinubu gave the tribute on Friday in Kano during a condolence visit to the residence of the deceased.
He said Dantata’s contributions to Nigeria’s economy and his philanthropic efforts had left a permanent legacy in the country.
“He was a man of immense personality, honesty, philanthropy and integrity, who devoted his life to the service of humanity and the advancement of the less privileged,” Tinubu said.
The president said he travelled to Kano to sympathise with the Dantata family and the people of the state.
“I thank you all for showing up gracefully and honourably to welcome me,” he said.
Tinubu described the late mogul as one who remained committed to humanitarian work throughout his life.
“If there is friendship and contact in the hereafter, Dantata will be in the marketplace distributing food to the needy and helping the sick.
“He was generous and deeply committed to the great values of our country.
“Before the election, I came here to seek his prayers, and he gave them,” he said.
He prayed for the repose of Dantata’s soul and advised his family to sustain his legacy of humility and service.
The late Dantata, a renowned philanthropist and business icon, died in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94.
He was buried in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, according to Islamic rites.
Tinubu was received at Aminu Kano International Airport by the governor of Kano, Abba Yusuf, and the deputy senate president, Senator Barau Jibrin.
Party loyalists, family members, and respected community leaders also welcomed him during the condolence visit.
