“I’ll run, win under PDP, I’m not joining ADC” – Adeleke dismisses defection rumour

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, says reports making the rounds of his imminent defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, are spurious and unfounded.

Media reports had emerged recently suggesting he plans to defect to the ADC ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.

But the governor, who reaffirmed his commitment and allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, dismissed the report as false and misleading

In a statement issued on Friday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said he is not in alliance with ADC or any other party.

Governor Adeleke boasted that he’ll contest and win re-election on the PDP platform as the people of Osun massively support him owing to his remarkable performance in office.

“The governor is not in any form of alliance with the ADC or any other political group,” the statement read. “He will run and win under the PDP, as he currently enjoys broad-based support from the people of Osun due to his exceptional track record in office.”

Rasheed also clarified that the PDP in Osun State has already declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, stressing the party’s internal cohesion and alignment with national strategy.

He added that Governor Adeleke is focused on consolidating his achievements and delivering further dividends of democracy, which have earned him widespread goodwill across the state.

“Osun residents are resolute in their backing of Governor Adeleke. His administration has brought transformative changes and restored public confidence in governance. The people are eager to renew his mandate come 2026,” Rasheed said.

The governor also urged PDP members across the state to intensify efforts to strengthen party structures and prepare for another resounding electoral victory next year
