BREAKING: Olubadan-in-council nominates Ladoja as 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland

The Olubadan-In-Council has chosen former Oyo State Governor, Chief Rashidi Ladoja, as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This decision was reached on Monday during a meeting held at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, located in Ibadan North Local Government Area.

However, Ladoja was not present when the meeting was convened by the council members.

The gathering was led by the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, who announced the council’s resolution.

Oba Ajibola declared, “We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

He mentioned that the council’s resolution would be officially sent to Governor Seyi Makinde for endorsement and further procedures.

Ajibola added, “We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of office to the new Olubadan.”

According to Ajibola, the event cannot hold this week as preparations are ongoing for the burial of the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.

He said, “The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible.”

He further explained that Governor Makinde would decide when the staff of office presentation will take place.

“He (Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week,” Ajibola concluded.

Oba Olakulehin passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025.
