- APC accused El-Rufai of planning to impose Atiku on the ADC at the expense of national unity.
- The statement comes after El-Rufai’s recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration
The All Progressives Congress, APC, says former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, is plotting to usurp the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
APC accused El-Rufai of planning to impose Atiku on the ADC at the expense of national unity.
The statement followed El-Rufai’s recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Within Nigeria reports that the former governor had at a political event in Sokoto on Saturday warned Nigerians against voting for APC in 2027.
He described the Tinubu-led government as “incompetent and clannish”.
Reacting to his comment, the APC claimed that El-Rufai and his allies in the ADC want to undermine Nigeria’s power rotation arrangement by pushing for Atiku’s candidacy in 2027, despite the presidency currently being held by the South.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party said El-Rufai and his cohorts in the ADC were offering no credible alternative to current policies.
According to the APC, the opposition figures lack viable policy proposals and have instead relied on what it called “headline attacks” against the government.
“El-Rufai and Atiku want to do to Nigeria what Atiku did to PDP. The El-Rufai and Atiku hijacked ADC constitute a clear and present threat to the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria,” Morka said
