Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has dismissed two senior aides after investigative panels found them guilty of misconduct in separate incidents.
The affected officials are Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, and Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office.
Announcing the decision, the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk, said Sharada was indicted for orchestrating the controversial bail of a suspected drug kingpin, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.
Farouk explained that Roba was removed after being linked to the diversion of palliative grains meant for vulnerable residents in the state.
In a statement by his press secretary, Musa Tanko, the SSG said: “In a decisive move, the Governor approved the dismissal of Abubakar Umar Sharada… which confirmed Abubakar Sharada’s culpability in the controversial bail process through the personal testimony he deposited before the committee.”
Sharada has been directed to return all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs (REPA), by Monday, August 11, 2025, and warned against parading himself as a government official.
On Roba’s case, the statement noted: “The Governor relieved Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba… after his arrest for rebagging palliative grains at a warehouse in Sharada in 2024. Roba has since been arraigned in court and is facing charges of theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly diverting public assets.”
Roba was also ordered to surrender all government belongings, including his ID card, and cautioned not to pose as a state official.
The government, however, cleared Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, of any wrongdoing after a committee found him innocent.
Yusuf reiterated his administration’s “unwavering commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption,” warning public officials to maintain integrity in both official and private conduct.
He also cautioned residents: “By this statement, the general public are advised not to engage the two sacked political appointees… whoever does that, he or she does it at his or her own risk.”
Earlier in the week, the state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, resigned after being implicated in the same drug baron bail saga.
