‘It’s false’ — Ex-NIMASA DG denies saying El-Rufai still in APC

Dr Bashir Jamoh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied claims credited to him suggesting that former governor Nasir El-Rufai remains a stakeholder in the party.

Jamoh, who until recently served as Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, dismissed the reports in a statement on Saturday.

There were reports that Jamoh’s comments were allegedly made during an event in Kaduna, amid speculations about El-Rufai’s political alignment.

El-Rufai had in July announced his resignation from the APC and aligned with the Social Democratic Party before joining a coalition of opposition groups that adopted the African Democratic Congress as its platform for the 2027 elections.

Jamoh insisted he never made any such remark, describing the publication as false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

“My attention has been drawn to a misleading publication circulated by some media outfits on August 7 and 8, 2025, claiming I said former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, is still a member of the APC.

“I categorically deny making such a statement to any media organisation. The report is entirely fabricated.

“I urge the public to ignore the publication and treat it as fake news.

“I remain committed to truth, accountability and responsible public discourse,” he said.
