The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti, Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has died at the age of 82.
A statement issued by his family on Saturday said the monarch passed away on Friday.
The family described him as a “symbol of remarkable leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people.”
They noted that his contributions would remain a lasting testament to his legacy.
Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi started his career as a teacher before becoming a senior civil servant.
He later served as Sole Administrator of the defunct Ifesowapo Local Government.
In 2009, he ascended the throne of his forefathers as the Alara of Aramoko Ekiti.
The monarch also made a mark in academia, serving as Chancellor of Ekiti State University.
He championed projects to improve education standards and widen access for local students.
During his reign, Oba Adeyemi was credited with promoting unity, advancing community development, preserving cultural heritage, resolving disputes, and empowering the youth.
The family said funeral arrangements would be announced later.
