The governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, has announced the dissolution of the state executive council.
The move, however, exempts the attorney general and certain key commissioners from the affected list.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the secretary to the state government, Habibat Adubiaro, directed the impacted commissioners and special advisers to hand over to the permanent secretary or the most senior civil servant in their ministries, departments, and agencies.
“Governor Oyebanji thanks the affected members of the state executive council and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.
The statement clarified that the dissolution does not affect the attorney general and commissioner for justice.
It added that the commissioner for health and human services, commissioner for agriculture and food security, commissioner for education, commissioner for works, and commissioner for trade, investment, industry and cooperatives would retain their positions.
Also spared are the special adviser on special education and social inclusion, and the special adviser on lands, survey and e-GIS.
The government also maintained that all directors general who are part of the state executive council would remain in their positions.
They include the director general of the office of transformation and service delivery, the director general of SDGs and project monitoring, and the director general of the Bureau of Public Procurement.
