John Utaka Open to Coaching Super Eagles

New Montpellier Féminines head coach, John Utaka, says he would be happy to take charge of the Super Eagles if approached by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Speaking to Brila FM after his appointment to the French Division 1 Féminine side, the former Portsmouth forward expressed his readiness for the national team role.

“If the NFF calls me, I’ll be glad to come. The job is to coach the players to the maximum,” Utaka said.

The ex-international earned 48 caps and scored six goals for Nigeria, featuring in the squads that finished third at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia and represented the country at the 2002 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.

Before landing his current role, Utaka had applied for the Flying Eagles coaching job but lost out to Aliyu Zubairu.
