12 die in Kano road accident

A fatal road accident in Garun Malam Local Government Area of Kano State has claimed the lives of at least twelve people.

Five other persons were also injured during the auto crash that happened at about 2:40 a.m. on Friday at Samawa Village along the Zaria–Kano highway.

The lone accident involved a DAF CF95 trailer, with registration number KMC 931 ZE loaded with goods.

The tragic mishap occurred when the trailer lost control and crashed because its cab detached from its body due to a mechanical failure in the trailer’s cab hook.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Muhammed Bature, confirmed the incident.

Bature, in a statement in Kano, said the incident involved 19 people, with 12 people dead, five others sustained varying degrees of injuries and two unhurt.

“The deceased victims were evacuated and deposited at Nasarawa Hospital, while the injured were taken to Kura General Hospital for medical attention,” he said.

The sector commander cautioned drivers against speeding, dangerous driving, and other unwholesome practices that might endanger lives and property
