The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has instructed all public universities in Nigeria to round off their 2025 admissions on or before October 31.
This directive was contained in the board’s weekly bulletin released on Monday.
The exam body said private universities have until November 30, while other tertiary institutions are expected to close admissions no later than December 31.
According to JAMB, the timelines were agreed during the 2025 Policy Meeting chaired by the minister of education.
The board explained that the move was part of efforts to stabilise the nation’s academic calendar and ensure equal access to admission opportunities.
“All tertiary institutions are hereby directed to finalise their admission processes for the 2025 session within the stipulated timelines,” JAMB said.
It listed the deadlines as October 31 for public universities, November 30 for private universities, and December 31 for other institutions.
JAMB emphasised that the timelines were binding, regardless of whether schools were ready to resume new sessions.
The board advised institutions to admit and archive their candidates ahead of resumption to avoid distortions in the calendar.
“Even where an institution is not yet ready to commence the new academic session, such an institution should conduct its admission and archive it,” it added.
JAMB also directed institutions still conducting post-UTME screenings to conclude the exercise quickly in order to comply with the schedule.
“Consequently, institutions conducting post-UTME screenings are expected to conclude those exercises in good time to comply with the 2025 admissions schedule,” the board stated.
