Police in Rivers State have arrested 23-year-old Kingsley Chinamezu, also called Power Sharp, for killing his girlfriend. The victim, identified as 44-year-old Miss Confidence Konebari Sunny, was attacked with a machete on July 30, 2025, in Umuebule community, Etche Local Government Area.

After the incident, Chinamezu fled to Egbeta village in Edo State. However, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit tracked him down using intelligence and arrested him on August 15, 2025.

According to State Police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation. She added that he is also being profiled for possible involvement in other criminal activities.

The police revealed that after the killing, Chinamezu allegedly sent threats to the victim’s family, boasting he could harm them without facing consequences. This prompted a formal complaint, which led to swift action from the police.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, praised the operatives for their quick response and professionalism. He assured residents that criminals will not find safe ground in the state.

He further warned that those involved in violent crimes will be caught and face justice. “The long arm of the law will surely reach them,” the commissioner said.

The suspect remains in custody and will be charged in court after the investigation is complete.
