BREAKING: Benue Assembly Speaker Aondona Dajoh resigns, gives reason


The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, has stepped down from his position.

Dajoh announced his resignation in a handwritten letter dated 24th August 2025 and shared on his Facebook page.

In the letter captioned “Let there be peace”, he disclosed that the decision was taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state”.

He thanked his colleagues for allowing him to serve as “the first among equals” and pledged to remain dedicated to his legislative duties and the representation of his constituency, Gboko West State Constituency.

Recall that the assembly last Thursday suspended six lawmakers for six months over a plot to impeach the Speaker,

The suspended lawmakers are members representing Makurdi North, Alfred Berger, his Kian state constituency counterpart, Terna Shimawua, Cyril Ekong of Obi state constituency, and James Umoru, representing Apa state constituency.
