Terrorists kill 34 in Kebbi attack

No fewer than 34 people lost their lives after terrorists suspected to be Lakurawa members carried out coordinated attacks in Kebbi state.

The attacks happened on Wednesday across communities in the Arewa Local Government Area of the North-West State.

Security analyst, Bakastine, who disclosed the deadly attack, stated that the onslaught went on for hours lasting from morning through the afternoon.

According to him, many villages and locals were targeted, leaving families devastated and forcing residents to flee for safety. He described the attacks as “one of the deadliest single-day incidents in recent months in the area”.

“The attackers moved systematically from village to village, targeting civilians with brutal efficiency,” Bakastine said.

He noted that the hardest-hit community was Mamunu, where 16 people lost their lives. Five youths were killed in Awashaka, while three residents were killed in Masama.

Two people each were killed in Gorin Dena, Kamzo, Dan Mai Rago, Tungar Bature, and Tungar Tsoho communities.

By nightfall, residents across the wider Kangiwa axis reportedly remained enveloped by apprehension amid concerns of further attacks.

“Residents are calling on local and state authorities to take urgent action.

With 34 people killed in a single day across multiple communities, urgent questions remain over what immediate and decisive steps authorities will take to end the cycle of violence in Arewa LGA and restore safety for its residents,” Bakatsine added
