Obudu Mountain Resort was originally established as Obudu Cattle Ranch in 1951. The history of this resort in Obudu Plateau can be traced back to 1949, when M. McCaughley, a Scottish rancher, explored the mountain rangers, and he stayed on the mountaintop of the Oshie Ridge on the Sankwala Mountains for a month before returning with other ranchers Mr. Hugh Jones, and Dr. Crawfield, in 1951.
