Fela would have been so proud of “Talk” – Nigerians react to Falz new video

Nigerian musical act Folarin Falana popularly known by his stage name Falz has set the internet abuzz with the release of a fresh musical video to his single composition Talk.

The visual which is fast grabbing the attention of the online community combines the use of live action and animation in passing across its message.

With over 14,000 views on Youtube within hours of release, here are some reactions of what the musician’s fans think about the daring video.

Some of the musicians fan commended him for being bold and courageous for putting out the music video. He was particularly described by a fan as a musical barrister while some others praised him for speaking the truth without any fine tuning.

The musician who has been tagged as being fearless for his music video has also been compared to late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who was widely known for speaking against societal ills as perpetrated by members of the government.

A particular Twitter user identified as @Dansholz_ tweeted that the late Afrobeat legend would have been proud of the Talk musical video.

Hours after the video surfaced online, popular Nigerian television presenter Ebuka Obi-Uchendu took to his Twitter page to post a series of quotes from Seun Kuti, son of the late music legend, from his TVC interview. He had called out musicians who were trying so bad to ruin his father’s musical legacy.

It would be recalled that creating socially conscious audio-visual is not an entirely new trend for the superstar musician, his 2018 This Is Nigeria cover edition of Childish Gambino’s This Is America, had sparked similar reactions from his fans at home and abroad. The video had also attracted a ban from the National Broadcasting Commission.
