JUST IN: Kidnapped Catholic Priest Regains Freedom

Days after abduction, the Benue State Police Command on Wednesday has confirmed the release of the Catholic priest who was abducted on March 1 in Otukpo.

WITHIN NIGERIA had earlier reported that a Catholic president identified as Reverend Father David Echioda has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Otukpo area of Benue state.

This was revealed by the Police Public Relations in the state, DSP Catherine Anene.

The PPRO told newsmen in Makurdi that no ransom was paid for his release.

According to NAN report, Fr. Echioda was currently attached to Minor Seminary, Otukpo.

Anene further disclosed that the priest regained freedom on Tuesday night and unhurt.

He further added that the force is still going after his abductors.
