Nigerien armed robber arrested over murder case in Jigawa

The arrest of a 35-year-old Abdullahi Usman who hails from Niger Republic over charges of armed robbery and killing of a Nigerian in Babura local government has been confirmed by the Jigawa State Police Command.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Abdu Jinjir said the suspect was among the armed men numbering about nine, who stormed Andau village (within the Nigeria/Niger land border) and robbed people of three motorcycles before killing one Kamisu Idris of the same village.

According to the PPRO, a police team who arrived the scene after being alerted, engaged in a gun duel with the hoodlums who abandoned the three motorcycles they stole, one AK-47 rifle with nine rounds of ammunition and fled after being overpowered.

The suspects reportedly shot a 30-year-old man identified as Sabi’u Magaji who is a resident of the neighbouring village in their effort to escape.

Two days after Abdullahi Usman was nabbed, an informant of the gang identified as 25-year-old Salisu Amadu of Dorawa Tara village in Babura LGA was arrested.

Jinjiri said;

“The police rescued one of the suspects by name Abdullahi Usman, 35 years of Niger Republic who was seriously injured, and recovered the second AK47 rifle with eleven rounds of ammunition and a handset suspected to have been robbed.

“Two days later, one Salisu Amadu 25 years of Dorawa Tara village, Babura LGA who was an informant to the gang, was also arrested “
