BREAKING: Lagos cancels planned reopening of churches, mosques

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state on Monday stopped the reopening of Churches and Mosques in the state, following the rising cases of Covid-19.

The governor made the announcement while fielding questions from Journalists at the states house.

He said the decision was informed by increase in index cases in Lagos.

Recall that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had announced that Mosques will re-open on Friday, June 19 while churches will reopen on June 21. But on Tuesday it was a U-turn as the government suspended plan to reopening of churches, mosques.

Similarly, Lagos State Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) has warned that schools defying the directive of the Federal and State Governments on closure would be sanctioned.

The government warned owners and administrators of such schools to desist from reopening, as any school caught defying the directive on closure would be sanctioned. Adding that the Office Monitoring and Investigation team would embark on monitoring exercises across the State in order to ensure compliance.
