Making a switch from a niche to another often requires lots of hardwork and dedication. In Nigerian movie industry, most of the elite actors are former models who grew interest for acting as they advance in their career. The likes of Staphanie Linus, Bryan Okwara , Alex ekubor and ex Mr Nigeria Emmanuel Ikubese may perhaps represents the popular names. Their substantial progress in their new-found niche serves as an inspiration for many and one of the names following that path today is Emmanuel Somto, current Mister model Africa

Having won national and international title, Somto is set to join the movie industry. In a recent interview with our editor, the ex Mister Teen Nigeria speaks largely about his passion for acting and how he plans to establish his name as one of the best actors in Nigeria.

My Journey into modelling has been awesome and yielded many accolades (I return all glory to God). However, it’s time to make a switch to my First love ‘acting’ and I can’t wait to hit the ground running” he said.

Quizzed on his role model in the industry, he added “I have a hand full of actors I love to mention as my role models. Genevieve Nnaji is a big inspiration to my acting career. I grew up watching her movie and I must confess she’s a goddess. For me, she’s one of best actor to ever emerge from Nigeria. Big respect to Pete Edochie and RMD who I reckon as fathers in the industry. There legacy is clearly there for everyone to see”.
