Bill To Legalise Cultivation Of Marijuana In Nigeria, Passes 2nd Reading

A bill for the legalisation and usage of non-toxicant cannabis plants for medical and scientific research is presently before the House of Representatives.

The bill, which has passed the second reading , was presented by Rep. Princess Miriam Onuoha, representing Okigwe North of Imo State.

This was disclosed by Dr. Tonye Jaja Clinton, a legal practitioner, during a media parley in Abuja on the benefits and opportunities of cannabis plants and CBD oil.He said once the bill becomes law, Nigeria has a lot to gain economically.

In other news, men of Delta State Police Command have arrested a bus driver for being in possession of 3,000 cartridges and a woman transporting marijuana and cocaine in Delta.

The suspects were paraded by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa before newsmen on Wednesday May 13.

He said the 44-year-old driver identified as Felix Ade, was ar­rested along Asaba express­way.

According to the police commissioner, Ade who is from Ondo state claimed he was given the boxes to deliver in Edo State. Read more here.
