On Monday, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka disclosed that the #EndSARS protest remained one of the most successful movements in Nigeria.
This was made known by Soyinka at an interactive session during the launch of his book, entitled, ‘The Putin Files: Excursions Around The Ideology Of Pain,’ in Lagos.
He said the #EndSARS protest was an expression of the people’s frustration with the situation in the country.
It will be recalled that in October 2020, protesters acting under the #EndSARS mantra, took to streets nationwide to demand an end to police brutality.
Dangote, Bill Gates meet Tinubu in Aso Rock
On Monday, the Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote and Bill Gates, a prominent American businessman, paid President Bola Tinubu a visit at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu removes all service chiefs, appoints new ones
On Monday, all service chiefs were fired, and new ones were appointed, with the approval of President Bola Tinubu.
Additionally, he gave his consent to Nuhu Ribadu’s appointment as the new NSA.

Why I hate white garment churches – Pastor David Ibiyeomie
On Tuesday, the Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie expressed his strong aversion towards white garment churches due to his belief that they manipulate people’s destinies.
According to a recent statement by Ibiyeomie, if individuals were aware of the practices employed by such churches, they would not hold a favorable opinion of them.
Ibiyeomie asserts that officials within white garment churches engage in the use of demonic psalms and other rituals to modify the destinies of children, leading to sudden and unexpected changes in their behavior.
To illustrate this, he described a scenario where someone’s name is placed in a bottle of gin, and a prophet recites incantations until the individual is struck and becomes intoxicated.
Outrage as Ede Poly female student allegedly raped by notorious tout
On Monday, a female student of Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State (Name Withheld) was reportedly raped, with students of the institution calling for justice.
It was learnt that a notorious hoodlum popularly known as ‘Aleba’ sexually harassed the student in Ede on Sunday.
Speaking on the incident, the management of Federal Polytechnic, Ede confirmed and condemned the alleged sexual assault on its student.
Hunger crisis: Nigeria to get $20m in aid from UN
On Wednesday, the United Nations pledged $20 million in aid to Nigeria in response to the country’s hunger crisis in the northeast.
UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq revealed this at a press conference held at the UN headquarters in New York.
“With nine million dollars from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and $11 million from the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund, we will support the Government-led response efforts across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
FAAC shares N786bn May revenue to Tinubu govt, others
On Wednesday, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) distributed a total of N786.161 billion in May 2023 Federation Account Revenue to the Federal Government of Nigeria, States, and Local Government Councils (LGCs) under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was stated in a communiqué issued at the conclusion of the FAAC meeting for June, which was presided over by the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Oluwatoyin Madein.

Atiku closes case against Tinubu over presidential poll dispute with 27 witnesses
On Friday, a former vice-president and PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar closed his case before the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, in Abuja on Friday. He is attempting to have President Bola Tinubu’s election declared invalid.
Atiku, who called a total of 27 witnesses and provided the court with a number of documentary documents, claimed that the reason he decided to finish his case was because he had used up all of the days allotted for him to argue his case against Tinubu.
Snake kills notorious ISWAP Commander in Sambisa forest
On Saturday, a notorious Commander of the Islamic State of West African Province, (ISWAP), popularly known as Kiriku reportedly killed by a snake in Sambisa forest, Borno State.
The deceased was said to have died three days after he was bitten by the venomous snake.
Bible: Satan, not God, sent down fire when Elijah prayed – Nigerian cleric stirs controversy
On Friday, a Nigerian cleric identified as Abel Damina said it was Satan, not God, who sent down fire when Prophet Elijah, a Biblical figure, prayed for fire during a contest between him (Elijah) and the priests of Baal.
The Biblical story, as told in 1 Kings 18:1 – 18, narrates a spiritual contest between Elijah, whom the Bible portrays as a prophet of God and another set of prophets – the prophets of Baal, portrayed as false priests.

Presidential petition: Peter Obi closes case against Tinubu, to reopen ‘later’
On Friday, Peter Obi and his Labour Party, LP, filed a petition with the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) on Friday, challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election.
Obi and LP are named as complainants in the petition CA/PEPC/03/2023, which challenges Tinubu’s election as Nigeria’s president on May 29.
