BREAKING: Terrorists storm Borno school, kill teacher; abduct students writing NECO exam

Terrorists wreaking havoc in Nigeria’s North-Eastern region have struck again in Borno State.

The terrorists attacked Government Day Secondary School in Lassa town, located in the Askira/Uba Local Government Area of the State.

An unspecified number of students were kidnapped during the attack. The students were writing the Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE, organised by the National Examinations Council, NECO, when the terrorists invaded the community.

A teacher was reportedly shot dead during the incident and another sustained injuries.

Locals confirmed the incident to newsmen. According to them, troops stationed in the area had left on a patrol to Uba, a nearby town approximately 16 kilometres away, just before the terrorists struck.

“The soldiers were not around when the terrorists invaded. They came in large numbers, firing sporadically and causing panic everywhere.

“They took away students’ writing NECO and their teachers,” one of the residents said.

Spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident and acknowledged that several students are still missing following the raid
