The return of Ipswich Town goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen to the Premier League has renewed attention on some of the tallest players to have featured or been registered in the competition.
At 2.06m (6ft 9in), the Dutch goalkeeper sits at the top of the Premier League’s all-time height rankings, according to the league.
The list is dominated by goalkeepers, although several towering forwards and defenders have also made their mark in England’s top flight.

Dutch goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen returned to the Premier League with newly promoted Ipswich Town after joining from Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.

Serbia striker Nikola Zigic became known for his aerial strength during his time with Birmingham City.
His remarkable height made him one of the most distinctive centre-forwards to feature in the Premier League.
6. Stefan Maierhofer — 2.02m (6ft 8in)
Austrian forward Stefan Maierhofer played for Wolverhampton Wanderers during the 2009/10 season.
Despite making only a limited number of Premier League appearances, his height places him among the competition’s tallest outfield players.

France goalkeeper Illan Meslier established himself at Leeds United before joining Arsenal ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Italy striker Lorenzo Lucca joined Nottingham Forest after making an impression in Serie A.

Former England striker Peter Crouch remains one of the most recognisable tall players in Premier League history.
Crouch represented Aston Villa, Southampton, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur, Stoke City, Liverpool and Burnley, scoring more than 100 Premier League goals and becoming famous for his aerial ability and trademark robot celebration.

Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has also played for Fulham, Wigan Athletic, Birmingham City and Brighton & Hove Albion.
