For years, Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, better known as KayCee Luxury, built his public image around the trappings of an extravagant lifestyle, with social media offering regular glimpses of expensive cars, jewellery, designer fashion and international shopping trips.
His online persona was that of a Lagos socialite whose wealth was displayed through packed garages, high-end accessories and frequent journeys to cities such as Paris and Milan, attracting substantial attention from followers on Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat.
That image changed dramatically on August 13, when the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency linked him to an alleged drug trafficking operation involving 184.5kg of cocaine, describing the seizure as the largest cocaine bust from a courier company in its history.
According to the NDLEA chairman, Buba Marwa, intelligence indicated that KayCee Luxury was preparing to leave Nigeria for another trip to Paris when operatives apprehended him at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The agency said he was arrested alongside Lawal Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company allegedly connected to the consignment, while investigators recovered €7,750, £2,800, N100,000 and expensive jewellery from KayCee Luxury at the time of his arrest.
The NDLEA further alleged that its investigation pointed to Nigeria being used as a transit route for illicit drugs destined for the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia, while describing KayCee Luxury as the “Nigerian arrowhead” of the alleged cartel operation.
The allegations have consequently brought renewed attention to the source of his highly publicised wealth, his collection of luxury possessions and his relationships with celebrities and political figures.
Building a luxury identity online
Before the drug investigation, KayCee Luxury had established himself as a lifestyle personality and entrepreneur whose online brand centred on luxury goods and expensive experiences.
On his now-locked Instagram account, he described himself as the chief executive officer and founder of KayCee Luxury Group, a business associated with gold, jewellery, luxury watches and exotic cars.

His digital following grew to nearly 700,000 Instagram followers, alongside an audience on Snapchat, where he regularly showcased vehicles, jewellery, designer outfits, private jet journeys, mansions and yachts.
His visibility was also boosted by the Lekki car-spotting community, whose social media content frequently focuses on celebrities and wealthy personalities arriving in expensive vehicles.
Among the luxury items associated with him are Hermès and Birkin bags, numerous wristwatches and a collection of high-value vehicles.
Cars linked to his name include a Brabus XLP, Ferrari Purosangue, Lamborghini Urus, Range Rover Autobiography, Mercedes-Benz, Rolls-Royce Spectre and Tesla Cybertruck, with their combined value reported at $3.6 million.
He is also said to have two Mercedes-Maybachs designed by the late Virgil Abloh, from a limited production run of only 150 vehicles.
A public dispute with Davido
KayCee Luxury’s name previously entered the public spotlight in 2018 following a dispute involving music star Davido.
He sued the singer over an alleged failure to pay N60 million for “a gold and diamond chain with a set of matching wristwatch”, while also alleging that Davido threatened to kill him after he demanded payment.
A letter from his lawyer gave Davido seven days to settle the alleged debt or face legal action, although no further public development from the case was reported.
His celebrity and political connections
The socialite’s public profile has also been shaped by his appearances alongside prominent figures in Nigeria’s entertainment and political circles.
In May, he was photographed with fellow socialite Yhemo Lee and former House of Representatives member, Shina Peller, during Peller’s 50th birthday celebration.
His social media content has additionally featured personalities including Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, and singer Wizkid.
He has also been the subject of rumours concerning alleged romantic relationships with some female celebrities.
What lies ahead
The NDLEA investigation has now placed the lifestyle personality at the centre of an alleged international drug trafficking case, although the allegations against him have not been established as fact by a court.
The agency said he was expected to remain in its custody while investigations continued into the alleged network and the movement of the cocaine.
The scope of the investigation could extend beyond Nigeria, as the NDLEA disclosed that other suspected members of the network had also been arrested in the United Kingdom by counterpart law enforcement agencies.
For KayCee Luxury, whose public identity was built around conspicuous displays of wealth and proximity to influential figures, the ongoing investigation represents a stark turn in the story surrounding one of Nigeria’s most recognisable luxury lifestyle personalities.
