A celebrity boxing match that had been quietly taking shape for months has turned into a public disagreement between reality TV star Phyna and content creator Ashmusy.
What started with an opportunity for Phyna and later brought Ashmusy into the picture took a different turn after questions arose over who would fight whom. By Thursday, August 27, what had largely been handled through private conversations spilled onto Instagram, with Phyna making serious allegations against Ashmusy and Ashmusy responding with her own account of what happened.
At the centre of the dispute is a boxing deal, but the disagreement goes beyond the proposed fight. It has raised questions about how Ashmusy became involved, why another opponent was considered, where Chichi came into the picture and why Phyna viewed the development as a personal betrayal.
Here is how the disagreement unfolded.
How Phyna Got Into The Boxing Deal
The story dates back to February 2026, when Phyna said organisers of a celebrity boxing event first contacted her about participating in a fight. According to the reality star, the original plan was for her to face a Ghanaian woman. She agreed to participate and discussions continued for months.
The original opponent, however, later became unavailable because she had a wedding on the scheduled date of the fight. That left the organisers looking for another person to face Phyna.
Phyna explained during her Instagram Live on Thursday, August 27, that she gradually became involved in helping them find possible participants. She said the organisers would reach out to her and ask her to suggest people they could approach.
She stressed that she was not officially part of the organising team, but her involvement became significant enough that she felt almost like one of the organisers. Some of the people approached, she said, either turned down the proposed payment or were unwilling to fight her. That search continued for months.
By August, Phyna said she had already spent about seven months discussing the event with the organisers. Then, on August 19, she suggested Ashmusy.
Why Phyna Brought Ashmusy Into The Fight
Phyna said she specifically recommended Ashmusy to the organisers because they were still looking for someone to participate. She immediately called Ashmusy.
The first call was not answered, but Ashmusy picked up when Phyna called again. According to Phyna, they spoke for about two minutes and Ashmusy indicated that she was interested. They also discussed the proposed payment.
Phyna said Ashmusy agreed to the deal and then asked to be connected with the organisers. That led to a three-way call between Phyna, Ashmusy and the organisers. After that conversation, Phyna said Ashmusy had the organisers’ contact details and she stepped back so they could continue their discussions directly.
According to Phyna, however, the agreement did not immediately go smoothly. She said she later heard that Ashmusy was not satisfied with the initial amount offered. Phyna said she had no problem with that and told the organisers to negotiate with Ashmusy.
She claimed Ashmusy eventually increased her fee, the organisers accepted the new amount, and a contract was prepared and sent to her. At that point, Phyna believed the matter was moving towards the fight. But then communication became an issue.
She said she was told Ashmusy was delaying the process and was advised to speak with her. Phyna said she called Ashmusy, who told her she was calling late at night and would speak with her the following morning.
It was what Phyna said she learnt soon after that which changed the tone of the entire situation.
The Decision That Triggered The Fallout
According to Phyna, by around August 25, she learnt that Ashmusy was allegedly telling the organisers to remove her from the event. Phyna said Ashmusy allegedly told the organisers that she had someone else who could replace her.
For Phyna, the allegation was difficult to understand because she had spent months working with the organisers and had personally introduced Ashmusy to them only days earlier.
She repeatedly returned to that point during her Live.
“Me, I’ve talked to these people for several months. I was the one who brought you in last week.”
Phyna also said she had screenshots of conversations to support her account and showed some of them during the Live.
She alleged that Ashmusy had told the organisers to keep certain conversations between them and simply tell Phyna that another person would be brought in. Phyna interpreted that as an attempt to push her out of an opportunity she had helped create.
Ashmusy Says She Wanted A Different Opponent, Not Phyna Out
Ashmusy’s account of the same development is different. In her response posted on Instagram on August 27, she firmly denied asking the organisers to drop Phyna.
“Phyna I never asked anyone to drop you, neither did I advocate for your downfall in any way.”
However, Ashmusy did acknowledge asking the organisers about the possibility of having a different opponent. Ashmusy explained that she had been uncertain about the boxing proposal from the moment Phyna approached her.
She said she and her team had concerns about the fight because she was not a professional boxer and needed to consider whether she was comfortable facing Phyna.
Ashmusy also pointed out that Phyna herself had acknowledged during her Live that other people had declined to fight her because they believed she would “beat” them.
For Ashmusy, that concern was part of the decision-making process. She said she raised the issue with the organisers and told them that, if she eventually decided to participate, she would rather fight someone else.
According to Ashmusy, this was not because she had a problem with Phyna. In fact, she said the opposite. She explained that she was cool with Phyna and was uncomfortable with the idea of fighting someone she had a good relationship with. Ashmusy said she asked the organisers whether having separate opponents was possible, and they told her she could find another match while Phyna kept hers.
She said the organisers assured her that they would communicate the arrangement to Phyna directly. At the time, Ashmusy said, she was also travelling and was not in the best position to handle the conversation herself.
She added that that was why the matter should not have been interpreted as an attempt to remove Phyna.
Where Chichi Came Into The Story
Chichi’s name entered the dispute as Phyna explained the search for another opponent. Phyna said that while the organisers were looking for people who could fight, they also approached Chichi.
According to Phyna, Chichi declined to fight her, regardless of how much she was offered. Phyna then alleged that Ashmusy had told the organisers she had a better person who could replace her. Phyna said Chichi subsequently agreed to fight Ashmusy, while discussions around the proposed payment continued.
Why Phyna Saw It As A Betrayal
For Phyna, the problem was not simply that Ashmusy did not want to fight her. Her anger came from what she believed happened after she had personally helped Ashmusy get the opportunity.
Throughout her Instagram Live, Phyna stressed that she had been dealing with the organisers since February. She said she had suggested names, helped them reach potential participants and eventually brought Ashmusy into the conversation.
She therefore saw Ashmusy’s alleged request to have her removed as an act of betrayal. Her frustration became increasingly emotional during the Live.
Phyna called Ashmusy a “bad person” and a “wicked soul”, accusing her of trying to take an opportunity away from her. At one point, she repeatedly said Ashmusy was trying to “remove food from my mouth”, referring to the financial opportunity attached to the boxing event.
She also showed screenshots from conversations and said she was willing to provide them to bloggers interested in the dispute.
Phyna insisted that she had evidence of her involvement in the process and of the conversations surrounding the alleged replacement. She also warned that she would respond if bloggers published accounts she believed were false.
But while Phyna presented the development as an attempt to edge her out, Ashmusy maintained that she had never intended to sabotage her.
The Private Conversation That Became Public
Beyond the boxing arrangement itself, Ashmusy seemed unhappy with how the disagreement became public. Before posting her detailed statement, she wrote on her Instagram Story that she had previously preferred to remain silent when stories involving her were distorted.
This time, she said she did not want to remain silent because she believed doing so had allowed too many narratives to spread in the past.
She described her response as the first and last time she intended to address the matter publicly.
Ashmusy also criticised the way the organisers handled the situation. She said private conversations should have remained private and argued that the organisers should have stepped in instead of allowing the disagreement to play out publicly.
She further said the private conversations between those involved had been held in good faith and that she had trusted they would be handled professionally.
According to Ashmusy, that trust had been misplaced. She also addressed the threats allegedly made during Phyna’s Live, saying that disagreements did not justify threats of violence or harassment. She said any further threats would be reported to the authorities.
By the end of her statement, Ashmusy had made a final decision about the boxing event. She said she was no longer interested in participating.
“As of now, I am completely uninterested in the match and I have opted out completely.”
She wished Phyna well and said she did not intend to engage in a public fight or further banter over the matter.
What Started As A Boxing Match Became A Public Dispute
The Phyna-Ashmusy disagreement began with a boxing opportunity that had been in the works for months, but the events of August turned it into something much more personal.
For now, there are therefore two versions of what happened behind the scenes. Phyna sees the episode as a betrayal and an attempt to take away an opportunity she helped create. Ashmusy sees it as a misunderstanding that grew after a request for a different opponent was not handled properly.
What is no longer in doubt, however, is that the proposed boxing bout has taken a back seat to the disagreement surrounding it.
