Olamide Mojigbotoluwa Ehinfun-Adekunle (SAN) made history last week after she emerged as the country’s youngest female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, earning the prestigious rank at the age of 40.
She is among the 68 legal practitioners the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, swore in as Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) at the opening of the 2026/2027 legal year.
Here are 10 things to know about her:
1. Born in Kaduna State
Ehinfun-Adekunle was born on June 25, 1986, in Nigeria’s North West state of Kaduna. She originally hails from Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
2. A precocious child with an interest in jurisprudence and advocacy early
Her interest in law reportedly began early in life. Her parents described her as loquacious, a trait also noted in her primary school reports. Stories told by her father about politics in the old Western Region and the legal career of Chief Rotimi Williams, popularly known as “Timi the Law”, helped shape her interest in the profession.
3. Studied law at Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Leeds
She attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, for her tertiary education, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree between 2003 and 2009. She proceeded to the Nigerian Law School from 2009 to 2010. She later obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Trade Law from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, between 2011 and 2012. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK.
4. Worked at established and reputable legal organisations
She joined Afe Babalola & Co. Before joining the law firm, she held important positions at D. D. Dodo & Co. and the Nuhu Ribadu Campaign Organisation.
5. Partner at Afe Babalola & Co.
She became a partner at the law firm in September 2013. Her areas of specialisation include complex litigation, commercial dispute resolution, oil and gas, arbitration, election petitions, transactional law and regulatory compliance. She has also appeared before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court.
6. Elevated to SAN in 2026
She was shortlisted for the elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria. On July 23,2026, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee ratified her elevation. On Monday, October 12, 2026, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, swore her in alongside 67 legal practitioners. She was one of the four women sworn in as SAN.
7. Inspired and mentored by veteran and respected legal minds
She has identified Aare Afe Babalola, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, Kehinde Ogunwumiju and Pastor R. A. Ogunwole among those who have influenced and shaped her career. Former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has also publicly celebrated her achievement and reportedly mentored her since they met when she was a fresh law graduate around 2010 or 2011.
8. Champions justice system reform
Ehinfun-Adekunle cited delays in the justice system as a major challenge. She noted that prolonged litigation places a financial burden on litigants and called for judicial financial autonomy, compliance with court orders, specialised commercial courts and measures to reduce the Supreme Court’s caseload.
9. Supports the mentoring of young lawyers
She has underscored the importance of providing the needed counsel and guardianship for young legal practitioners, particularly women, and maintaining high standards of advocacy. Her career progression reflects the importance of professional development and guidance in the legal profession.
10. Her elevation marks a milestone in her career
Attaining the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria at 40 marks a significant milestone in Ehinfun-Adekunle’s legal career. The prestigious rank recognises legal practitioners who have distinguished themselves through exceptional advocacy, professional integrity and contributions to Nigerian jurisprudence.
