Step-By-Step Guide To Download Your NIN Slip For Free

NIN Slip

Nigerians can now obtain and save their National Identification Number slips on their mobile phones without visiting enrolment centres or paying intermediaries, following a free digital service introduced by the National Identity Management Commission.

The commission said the document could be downloaded through its NINAuth mobile application, which is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

In a demonstration shared on its official X account on Wednesday, NIMC outlined the steps users must follow to access the service and complete the identity verification process.

According to NIMC, the following steps are required to download the slip:

  1. Download the NINAuth application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Open the application on your mobile phone.
  3. Tap “Do More with NINAuth”.
  4. Select “NIN Slip” from the available options.
  5. Complete the facial authentication process to verify your identity.

To begin, NIN holders are required to download and install the NINAuth application on their Android or Apple devices before opening it and selecting the “Do More with NINAuth” option.

Users must then choose “NIN Slip” from the available services and complete the facial authentication procedure to confirm their identity.

Once verification is successful, the application provides an option to generate and save the official document directly to the user’s phone.

“Once verified, click on ‘Download NIN Slip’ to generate and save the official NIMC-issued NIN slip into your mobile phone,” the commission said.

NIMC described the service as a straightforward and secure option for Nigerians seeking to obtain the document without incurring additional costs.

“It is that simple, it is free, available, and a few taps away. Get yours today,” it added.

The initiative is intended to simplify access to the identification document and reduce the need for applicants to make physical visits to commission offices.

The NINAuth platform was introduced in October 2025 to give individuals greater control over access to their personal information across services, including banking, telecommunications, education and government institutions.

In June 2026, the commission announced that registered NIN holders could use the application to download their official slips at no charge.

Information on the NINAuth website states that the downloaded document is identical to the slip issued by NIMC and is accepted by banks, government agencies and other institutions that require it.

The National Identification Number is an 11-digit unique identifier assigned to Nigerians and legal residents after successful registration.

It helps establish and verify an individual’s identity while connecting personal records to the National Identity Database.

People who have not registered for a NIN must complete the process at an approved NIMC enrolment centre, where they provide demographic details and undergo biometric registration.

The procedure includes the capture of fingerprints and facial images before an 11-digit identification number is issued.
