NSCDC arrest suspected vandal in Jigawa, recover stolen cables

The Jigawa Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 20-year old man for allegedly vandalising and stealing electricity cable in Babura Local Government Area of the state.

The NSCDC Spokesman in the state, CSC Adamu Shehu, disclosed this to our correspondent in Dutse on Monday.

Shehu said the suspect, around 4 a.m. at the Government Science Secondary School Kanya Babba, vandalised and stole 318.6 meters of cables for supply of electricity to the school’s administrative block.

He explained that the suspect, a resident of Giginya village was initially nabbed by the school’s watchmen when they heard his movement in the ceiling.

The spokesperson added that he confessed to have committed same offence three times in the same School.

According to him, preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a 22-year old man of Kirya village in the area who used to buy the stolen items from the suspect.

Shehu further said the suspect had equally confessed to buying the stolen cables at N6,500, contrary to its original market value.

He said the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation
