Nollywood actor, Rotimi Salami, has intensified calls for the criminalization of paternity fraud in Nigeria, equating it to the severity of rape.

Taking to his Instagram page, Rotimi Salami passionately urged the federal government to institute legal measures that would hold perpetrators of paternity fraud accountable, emphasizing that such actions inflict profound emotional distress on the victims.

In his impassioned post, Salami drew parallels between the trauma experienced by individuals who discover they have been deceived about their child’s paternity and the anguish endured by survivors of rape.

He articulated that the profound betrayal and emotional turmoil suffered by men upon realizing they have been unknowingly raising another man’s child warrants legislative intervention akin to the gravity of rape charges.

In his words;

“Paternity fraud should be criminalized just like rape. The experience when raped is the same a man goes through when he finds out he’s been raising another man’s child. Damn!

“Rape is a major offence. Paternity fraud should also be. None of these 2 should be encouraged. Men’s mental health too matters.”

In other news, Nigerian film actress and movie producer, Allwell Ademola and her male colleague, Rotimi Salami have reacted to a report of an alleged romantic relationship between them.

Rotimi who recently celebrated his 40th birthday took to social media to share a screenshot of a report of Allwell Ademola celebrating him on his birthday.
