Fireboy recalls how he left a show crying after the audience didn't give him any attention


Nigerian singer, Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy shares an emotional experience of leaving a concert in tears when the audience failed to recognize him.

He revealed that the incident occurred in his early days as a struggling artist.

In a recent interview with Billboard News, Fireboy highlighted the challenges faced by upcoming artists, emphasizing the tough journey to success.

He recalled a specific show where he performed, only to be ignored by the crowd who were too busy dancing. Feeling invisible, he confided in a friend as they both left the venue in disappointment.

Fireboy stated that the incident made him vow to himself, to never settle for less than he deserved.

He said:

Every upcoming artiste always go through a lot of stuff.

“There was a show I went to perform and nobody even knew I was on stage or spared me a second glance. Everybody was just dancing.

“The DJ was just DJing. I felt invisible and I went back to the car with my friend crying.

“I told myself never again. I will never ask for something until I feel like I deserve it.”

He highlighted how the experience became a motivation for him to strive for recognition and success in his music career.

In an exclusive interview with RollingStone, Fireboy shared his experiences, acknowledging his initial struggles to replicate Beyoncé’s performances.

According to Fireboy, despite his efforts, the level of excellence achieved by the multiple Grammy winner remained out of reach for him.

Reflecting on his journey, Fireboy disclosed his determination to evolve and enhance his craft.

He revealed how he channeled his aspirations of performing in front of massive audiences into his songwriting process, envisioning himself on stage even during the creation of his most heartfelt compositions
