Unknown gunmen set magistrate court ablaze in Imo

Unknown gunmen have set ablaze the Magistrate Court in Ubulu, Oru-West Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to Daily Post, a source said the attack was carried out on Monday by hoodlums using petrol bombs.

The fire which began in the early hours affected the entire court building.

The Interim Management Committee chairman of Oru-west LGA of Imo State, Hon. Willie Okolieogwo, who confirmed the incident said, although, the court was completely razed by the hoodlums, no casualties were recorded.

Okolieogwo who is also the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, chairman in Imo State expressed shock that the unknown gunmen are still on the prowl despite the efforts so far made by the government of Imo State to check criminal activities.

“The government of Senator Hope Uzodinma is not relenting in proffering lasting solution to the issue of insecurity in our state. We are on top of the situation,” he assured.

Another source who pleaded anonymity said the assailants came in their large numbers to carry out the attack.

The police spokesperson in the state, Micheal Abattam , was yet to comment on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
