Decomposed body of South African boy found buried in his aunt’s backyard weeks after she reported him missing

36-year-old South African woman, identified as Andile Aalivirah, has been arrested by the police after the body of a missing 16-year-old boy, Neo Mahlangu, was found buried in her backyard three weeks after she reported him missing.

Neo was declared missing after visiting his aunt, Aalivirah, last month in Tsakane, Gauteng .

The teenager was allegedly beaten to death by the woman and her 14-year-old son after which they buried his body in the backyard.

The deceased’s aunt was arrested together with her teenage son on Friday, April 1.

The body was exhumed by police from a large pit which the aunt reportedly hired people to dig in the pretence of wanting to install a water tank.

Aalivirah is expected to appear before the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, April 4, facing charges of murder, defeating the ends of justice and perjury.
