Suspected hoodlums stormed the premises of Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, and attempted forceful evacuation of a corpse earlier deposited in the morgue of the hospital.

According to PUNCH, the hoodlums, who arrived the facility on Wednesday on motorcycles, ordered that a corpse brought by them on Tuesday should be released without any documentation.

The invaders were said to have created tension when the personnel they approached, whose name could not be immediately ascertained, told them they would have to fill some documents, they became infuriated.

The hoodlums, who openly displayed charms, threatened to cause chaos, unless the corpse was released to them.

Many staff of the hospital, relations with patients in the wards and others that had business on the premises when the drama was going on, could be seen retreating from the area, where the hoodlums had gathered to avoid being caught in the melee.

Some armed police operatives later arrived the hospital and forced the hoodlums out of the premises.

Reacting to the invasion, Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee of the Hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, simply said, “The matter has been rested, they have done the coroner for the corpse. So, they have taken the body out for burial.”
