Machina: Why we submitted Lawan name as Yobe North Senatorial candidate – APC Chairman, Adamu

Senator Abdullahi Adamu

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, says the imbroglio that typified the Yobe North Senatorial Primary election was fabrication of the media.

Recall that while Senate President Ahmad Lawan was battling for the APC presidential ticket, Bashir Machina was declared the winner of the Yobe North Senatorial District primary election.

Machina also insisted on the legality of his candidature, saying he would not step down for Lawan whom he claim was no longer interested in the senatorial seat.

However, reports had it that the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Yobe North Senatorial District has replaced the name of Bashir Machina with that of Lawan.

Bashir Machina had in reaction, insisted that he still remains the duly elected candidate of the APC in the Senatorial district to the 2023 elections.

Reacting to the development, Adamu said Lawan participated in the primary.

Speaking while addressing from State House correspondents, he said Adamu emerged candidate in another primary conducted by the party.

He said: “Don’t get yourself in the court of law. Is it that you were told they are saying it?

“I don’t have time for negativities. I don’t just have time for that. If you face me with positives, I have time for all of that. I will stand here and answer all of your questions.

“I cannot respond to every speculation, particularly when they are negative, especially when they are by mischief-makers.

“Is there any law that says when you contest an election and lost, you shouldn’t contest another one?

“Go and find out from the person who is responsible for organising the primary. I have done my bit.

“I do know, in my honour, that he did participate within the timeline,” he said
