Teenager stabbed to death over N20 Keke loading tip in Kano

A 19-year-old man, Anas Tijjani Ahmadu, has been stabbed to death with broken bottle by his co-worker while loading passengers for tricycle riders at the Coca Cola Junction Park in Bata area of Sabon Gari in Kano State.

According to Daily Trust, a witness said after Ahmadu loaded passengers for a tricycle and instead of getting his N20, it was handed to one Mai Nasara who refused to give him which led to a fight between them.

The witness said, “The fight was settled and both of them continued their normal business. But later the aggrieved boy came back and used a broken bottle to stab Anas on his neck near his chest, which led to his death.”

The eyewitness said the victim was rushed to the Murtala Muhammed Hospital where he was confirmed dead, noting that the suspect ran away.

The deceased’s father, Tijjani Amadu, said he got the sad news when he was at work and rushed back home only to find that his son was dead.

He said, “He came to me in the morning and said he was off to work and I prayed for his safe return. Later, a neighbour called and requested that I should quickly come back; that all was not well.

“It was terrible for me; I don’t want to even recall it. All I want is justice for my son. I urge police and other authorities involved to intervene and fight for our right.”

Meanwhile, sources at the park said the parents of the suspect were traced to Sauna Kawaji when he could not be apprehended.

The state police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said, “Immediately we got to the scene, the victim was rushed to the hospital where a doctor confirmed him dead. So far we have arrested one suspect and investigation has commenced to trace the main suspect for him to face the full wrath of the law.”
