Three arrested for robbing Fulani couple of cow proceeds in Kwara

Three suspects have been arrested by the police for allegedly robbing a Fulani couple of N800,000 in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The suspects, Mohammed Bello, Mohamed Bello and Abubakar Mohammed, were alleged to have robbed the husband, Mohammed Usman, and his unidentified wife of the money, being proceeds of the cows they sold on June 30, 2022.

According to police sources, the suspected robbers invaded the camp of the couple at Oorsha village in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State and dealt several machete cuts on Usman and his wife before demanding the proceeds of the cows, which they sold earlier in the day.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the arrest of three of the four masterminds of the crime, said they were fished out following discreet investigation ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Tuesday Assayomo.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and took investigators to their armoury wherein one Ak-47 rifle, one cut-to-size locally-made pistol and one mask were recovered,” he added.
