A senior Nigerian police officer, ASP Caleb, and his wife, Tate, have died following a violent domestic altercation in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday in the Ita-Eku area, reportedly stemmed from a heated argument over allegations of infidelity.
Sources say the confrontation escalated when the wife allegedly attacked the officer and severed his manhood. In retaliation, he fatally hacked her with a machete.
Ekiti State Police spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the tragedy, stating that officers arrived at the scene and transported the couple to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
A knife was recovered, and an investigation is underway. The case underscores the growing crisis of domestic violence in Nigeria.
