The police in Lagos State on Tuesday brutally cracked down and dispersed attendees of the #EndSARS memorial procession organised to mark the sixth-year commemoration of the dastardly killing of hundreds of unarmed protesters at the Lekki toll gate.

The Lagos State governorship candidates of the African democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rhodes-Vivour and Funso Doherty, respectively, were among the attendees.

The gubernatorial candidates were tear-gassed by the police as they tried to disperse the attendees

A video seen by WITHIN Nigeria showed police officers firing tear gas to disperse the candidates and other persons who gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos to commemorate the sixth anniversary of the 2020 #EndSARS shootings.

The candidates had joined a wreath-laying memorial for victims of the October 2020 #EndSARS protest. The procession was organised by the Enough is Enough Movement
