Nwando Phina: Nigerians hail woman who is one of first pilots to land plane at new Anambra Airport

Maiden flight on Friday landed at the newly constructed Anambra International Cargo Airport, Umueri, done by the Anambra State Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that two aircraft; Boeing 737 mark N5,-BUJ, and Embraer 145 both owned by Air Peace Airline landed by 2.26 pm and 2.46 pm respectively.

The event has made Nwando Phina Okpalaeke, the first female pilot to land a plane at the newly inaugurated International Airport.

Nigerians are full of praise for Nwando Phina Okpalaeke, as they have taken to social media to hail her achievement.

Nwando, from Azia in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, is one of the pilots that landed an aircraft at the airport during the test run.

Nwando is a Computer Science graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University in Ghana. She later trained at an air school in South Africa where she was certified to fly commercial airplanes.

Nwando’s sister took to Twitter to hail her and Twitter users joined while retweeting the female pilot’s photo.
