Operatives of the Benue State Police Command have arrested three suspects after five persons were reportedly killed in separate cult clashes in Gboko and Makurdi areas of the State.

It was gathered that the incident in Makurdi claimed one life, while four people were reportedly killed in Gboko.

According to PUNCH, a witness said some young people, suspected to be cultists, clashed at the North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, leading to the death of one person.

In Gboko, another witness said factional cults engaged in a free-for-all at Gbar Mka in the Gbolo East Local Government Area, which threw residents into confusion.

“The first incident happened at Gbar Mka on Tuesday night when some boys suspected to be cultists engaged one another in a serious fight and brandished various weapons.

“The clash made people scamper for safety and by the time the dust settled, three people were found dead,” he added.

The witness said another set of cultists on Wednesday around 1am stormed Lorkyaa Ako Street in Gboko Central and killed a 21-year-old man.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the Gboko incident said three persons has been arrested.
