Pregnant woman shot as troops repel bandits in Kaduna community

Bandits shot a pregnant woman while trying to kidnap some residents of Sabo GRA, in Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State

It was gathered that the bandits, who invaded the community in the early hours of Saturday in large numbers were however engaged by security agents in a gun battle and eventually repelled.

The bandits were said to have shot sporadically into the air and, in the process, a pregnant woman was shot before the terrorists were repelled after a gun battle that lasted almost three hours.

Three persons who were earlier abducted from the community were later set free after a combined team of soldiers and JTF engaged the bandits in gun battle.

According to The Nation, eyewitnesses said that many residents of the community took to their heels for fear of being kidnapped while the exchange of gunfire lasted.

A resident who pleaded anonymity said that one of the houses in the community went up in flames at about the same time.

According to the resident, the bandits bore a hole through the fence and gained açcess into the compound, following which they set the house ablaze before leaving.

Sabo GRA community had been relatively safe with an isolated incident of kidnapping recorded in December 2019 when a returnee from the United States was abducted alongside two of his brothers.
